President and CEO
After years of running his family business, Bobby Ardd was bored and "needed a brain challenge." Pursuing an MBA degree would provide that challenge, but the president and CEO of Ardd and Winter, a firm representing more than 50 lighting manufacturers, also needed a program that allowed him to balance home life and work with his studies.
Ardd was already familiar with Auburn. His daughter once attended AU and even though she eventually chose to continue her education elsewhere, he said, "I loved it. I thought it was the greatest place I'd ever seen."
Auburn's Executive MBA program proved an ideal fit for him. The residency requirements allowed him to plan well in advance. "I could make this work with my schedule," he said.
The degree gave him an "expanded view of globalization" that "got me out of my box," he said. It also improved his strategic planning skills, and his Georgia-based company is now expanding into Florida.
