The School of Accountancy is proud to announce that Dr. Jennifer Mueller-Phillips, Director of the School of Accountancy, has been selected as a 2017-2018 SEC Academic Leadership Development Program Fellow. The SEC Academic Leadership Development Program (SEC ALDP) is currently in its 10th year and “seeks to identify, prepare, and advance academic leaders for roles within SEC institutions and beyond.” The year-long program consists of a leadership program developed by Auburn University for the Auburn fellows as well as two SEC-wide workshops. The first workshop was held by Louisiana State University October 23-25, 2017 with the second workshop being held on Auburn University’s campus February 21-23, 2018.
Dr. Jennifer Mueller-Phillips is the KPMG Professor and Director of the School of Accountancy. Over her 17 years on the faculty she has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses, focusing in recent years on the undergraduate Auditing and Assurance Services course. She has been recognized over the years for for outstanding research and teaching, including the Harbert College’s prestigious McCartney Award. Her research interests include auditor judgment and liability, with publications appearing in prestigious scholarly journals such as Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, and Journal of Information Systems. In the Auburn community, Mueller-Phillips serves as Supervisory Committee Chair of the AU Federal Credit Union and as treasurer of a not-for-profit organization. She is also an active member of the American Accounting Association and an associate member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Prior to becoming Director of the School of Accountancy, she served the college as Director of Quality Assurance, reporting to Associate Dean Norman Godwin on assurance of learning and accreditation matters.
Other Auburn University fellows for the 2017-2018 year include Dr. Ben Farrow, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and International Programs in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction; Dr. Ramesh Jeganathan, Graduate Program Director in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Hospitality Management; and Dr. Tiffany Sippial, Director of Graduate Studies in the College of Liberal Arts.
