Second-year Auburn MBA/ MSF candidate Ryan Osbourn, of Charlotte, NC, found that the workload of the MBA program prepared him for the fast-paced environment of the shared workspace company WeWork in New York City, where he completed his internship this summer.
Osbourn worked with Auburn MBA's Graduate Career Services to research and apply for his WeWork internship. WeWork is a fast-growing company that provides workspace and services for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups and small businesses.
"I worked in the both the finance and accounting departments with about 15 other finance/accounting interns....my primary duties included invoicing, account reconciliations and internal auditing," Osbourn said. Provided a heavy workload during his internship, he found that his first year of MBA candidacy prepared him for the experience.
"Auburn MBA's curriculum is pretty difficult...especially when you go into finance and statistics," said Osbourn. "Because of the rigor of the curriculum of Auburn, I was able to easily transition into the working environment...I was able to do all of the things my manager asked me to do and I was able to learn quickly."
While at WeWork, Osbourn was also able to connect with fellow interns, as well as Auburn alumni in the Manhattan area. Osbourn said "Auburn has a very strong New York City alumni group, and I was able to attend events and network with other members of the Auburn family."
