Majors during Home Depot internship
A summer internship provided second-year Auburn MBA candidate Dani Majors online marketing experience at a fast-paced Fortune 500 retailer that is driving sales by blending in-store with online and mobile commerce operations.
Majors, of Atlanta, took time from her pursuit of dual master's degrees in business administration and finance to intern with the Content Strategy team of The Home Depot Marketing Department. Home Depot is the $88.5 billion home improvement retail giant headquartered in Atlanta.
"Being able to work for a Fortune 500 retailer was an incredible experience, especially since I was working on the dot-com side in this fast-changing retail environment from brick-and-mortar to online retail," Majors said.
Known for its in-store sales, Home Depot has taken steps in recent years to expand its online and mobile commerce. Online sales alone in the second quarter of 2017 totaled $1.80 billion, accounting for 6.4% of total sales.
Majors' role allowed her to "[optimize] the documents that our suppliers and internal teams use while on boarding their products. When implemented, [her] project will be able to touch all product categories and the respective 8,000+ suppliers."
Majors earned a B.A. in musical theater from Auburn University. Her interest in business stems from a desire to make her mark on the theater and entertainment industries.
"The skills I have been learning this past year in the Auburn MBA program have not only prepared me to become a business leader in the field I’m most passionate in, but also made me a well-rounded individual and someone who is proud to embody and represent the Auburn spirit."
