The US Business Tax Group for Deloitte London is hiring Fall 2018 and Spring/Summer 2019 Interns. Travel to London and housing are provided, in addition to the salary. Interested candidates should have a serious desire to work full-time in London following the completion of your education. To apply, a resume and cover letter are required (see instructions below); the application deadline is on Friday, May 11th.
Information provided by Deloitte about this opportunity:

Our clients include US and foreign multinationals, private equity, real estate, and hedge funds, and other organizations with US cross-border activity.
We provide a wide variety of services, including:
- Preparing and reviewing US federal, state, and local corporate and partnership reporting obligations;
- Consulting on tax efficient financing structures for US investments and acquisitions
- Advising on comprehensive M&A transactions;
- Providing tax planning strategies to ensure the deferral of taxable income on non-repatriated earnings;
- Performing vendor and purchaser due diligence tax reviews;
- Undertaking the respective US analysis in order to determine the status of company distributions (Earnings and Profits);
- Interpreting US income tax treaties and their application to international transactions; and,
- Advising on US tax provision issues for SEC registrants (ASC740).
We currently have a team of approximately 75 full-time professionals ranging from associates through assistant managers, managers/senior managers, directors, and partners. Our group provides ample opportunity for advancement through all levels. Our five partners bring a wide variety of backgrounds to the group and lead a diverse team that hail mainly from the US, but also from the UK, Spain, China, Russia, Japan, and India.
The internship is a three-month paid position in the US Business Tax group with Deloitte LLP in London. It provides the best path to a full-time position as a staff within the group.
The spring internship runs from late January through late April, which covers our traditional tax busy season. The summer internship runs from mid-May to mid-August, which is also quite a busy period for our group.
As an intern, each student performs the work of a first-year associate. This work can include preparing tax return work-papers, identifying and researching issues, using software to prepare tax returns, and assisting with various other tasks for the engagement.
In addition to the salary, Deloitte provides round-trip airfare from the US, housing, and transportation to/from the airport in London for each intern. The housing is typically a two or three bedroom serviced flat within walking distance of the office, which is shared by interns (one intern per bedroom; only interns of the same gender are housed together). Interns typically accrue five to six vacation days during the course of the internship, allowing for some travel throughout Europe.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for candidates who are pursuing a degree in accounting, taxation, or law and who will pursue a CPA qualification or bar certification after graduation. We have accepted candidates for internship positions at various stages of their educational career. Most applicants are typically within one year of completing undergraduate studies, however we have also had past interns who join us having already completed their postgraduate studies.
We strongly prefer candidates who have a specific interest in tax and who are willing to seriously consider returning to London to start their career on a full-time basis following a successful internship. Students who enjoy tackling problems in a team-oriented and high performance environment will find this opportunity to be a rewarding experience.
How to apply (by Friday, May 11th):
Interested candidates should send their resume and a cover letter indicating their interest in London and tax to Marek Krawczyk (firstname.lastname@example.org), copying both Jared Wade (email@example.com) and Jacob Hillyard (firstname.lastname@example.org). Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis as resumes are received, with all offers issued before the end of June 2018.
