Are you a sophomore looking to gain practical exposure to tax preparation, while serving the community? Look no further than the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), offered through our local Goodwill Industries.
Each year, Goodwill provides free tax preparation services to the community through a partnership with the IRS. The program, known as VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), recruits and trains volunteers to prepare free tax returns for households that earn less than $54,000 annually.
Volunteers commit to a minimum of 30 hours between January and April, all while gaining valuable work experience, becoming certified in tax law, and helping taxpayers in the community. This is a great opportunity to volunteer, learn a skill, and build your resume.
