“Dr. D.” is the Gayle Parks Forehand Professor in Supply Chain Management.  Her career in academia started with an adjunct instructor position at a small university, after spending several years in new product development and service operations in the insurance industry.  A passion for scholarship was ignited in her doctoral program when she saw the need for rigorous, industry-based research in the growing field of supply chain management. Since then, Beth’s research has been published in leading academic outlets such as the Journal of Business Logistics, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, and International Journal of Logistics Management.  Her commitment to scholarship extends to the discipline through her service as an associate editor for both the Journal of Business Logistics and Journal of Supply Chain Management. To mentor new scholars and enhance discourse that addresses supply chain phenomena, Beth serves on the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Academic Strategies Committee as the chair of the organization’s Doctoral Symposium. Her love of academia also extends into the classroom, where she applies a case-study approach to help students have a holistic understanding of supply chain challenges and opportunities in the global landscape. She emphasizes sustainable supply chain management, whereby firms benefit from decision-making that includes meeting economic, social and environmental goals.
