Dr. Carver has authored several journal articles that are either under review or are targeted for submission to the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Retailing, and the CMO Journal. Additionally, he is also a co-author of one of the leading textbooks on retail strategy entitled RETAILING (7th ed.). He is an active member of the American Marketing Association (AMA), the American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA), and the Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP). Dr. Carver's primary teaching responsibilities at Auburn University are Marketing on the Internet and Marketing Channel Systems; however, he has taught a variety of courses including Retail Strategy, Management of Distribution Systems, and Principles of Marketing. As a result of his teaching experience, Dr. Carver was twice awarded university-wide, teaching excellence awards while at the University of Arizona. Prior to joining Auburn, Dr. Carver was also employed as a marketer for firms that operate within the retail, business-to-business, and sports marketing industries; the last entailed marketing for the Byron Nelson golf tournament.
