Dr. Holt's research focuses on governance transparency and auditor independence. His work has been published in various journals, including Accounting, Organizations, and Society; Accounting Horizons; International Journal of Auditing; Managerial Auditing Journal; and The CPA Journal. Prior to joining the School of Accountancy, Dr. Holt served on the faculty at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he was awarded the Beta Alpha Psi Outstanding Professor Award for 2012-2013. He has taught a variety of auditing and financial accounting courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He currently teaches Intermediate Accounting and Business Processes and Internal Controls. Dr. Holt is a licensed CPA (Alabama) and before entering academia he worked with KPMG LLP.
