Biography

Doody, who earned a supply chain management degree from the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business in 2009, co-founded Bellhops with fellow Auburn business alum Stephen Vlahos. The two hatched their business concept after seeing mothers and fathers struggle to maneuver sofas and dressers up and down flights of stairs while helping their children move in and out of Auburn University dormitories and apartments. Their company, Bellhops, offers a price-friendly alternative to traditional moving companies. Utilizing mobile app technology, Bellhops connects customers in more than 85 cities and 39 states with a workforce of 8,000 contractors who provide assistance with small- and medium-scale moves. Billed as the “Uber of moving,” the Chattanooga, Tennessee-based company secured $22 million in venture capital and added $13.5 million in Series B funding. The company was recognized by Entrepreneur magazine, ranking No. 4 on its list of “best company cultures,” and was nominated as the best new startup of 2014 at Tech Crunch’s 8th annual “Crunchies” awards. Bellhops also participates in a variety of philanthropic projects, including blood drives, and contributions of free moves for senior citizens on National Senior Citizens Day and free services for military veterans on Veterans Day.
