        The deadline for Spring 2017 FLS Membership Applications is 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017.

        Why Should I Join FLS?

        The Financial Leadership Society (FLS) is a business organization open to outstanding freshmen, sophomores, and first semester juniors who are considering accounting as a major.  FLS members are invited to all Beta Alpha Psi professional meetings and “Meet the Firms” career fairs in the fall and spring.  Membership in FLS and attendance at these meetings and events will give you invaluable insight into opportunities in accounting and give you a jump start on making contacts for accounting internships.

        To qualify for FLS membership, you must meet the following requirements: 

        • Freshmen must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA (or, if a first-semester freshman, have a very strong high school scholastic record).
        • Sophomores must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 in any accounting course taken.
        • First-semester juniors who are currently enrolled in ACCT 3110 Intermediate Accounting I must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 in any accounting course taken (excluding ACCT 2700).
        •  If you have already taken ACCT 3110 Intermediate Accounting I, you are ineligible for FLS and should apply for Beta Alpha Psi membership.

         How do I apply to FLS: (follow the four steps below)

        Step 1:Prepare your résumé using the résumé template, if you do not have a résumé.  Please note that the résumé template is derived from a general business template provided by the OPCD, but we have included additional information customized to accounting.  Please delete the notes before finalizing your personal résumé copy.  After updating the résumé template with your information, print your résumé to a PDF to preserve formatting.  Instead of printing résumé to a physical printer, select Adobe PDF as your printer and save document as PDF.  See PDF example.

        Step 2:Print your unofficial transcript from AU Access to a PDF document.

        Step 3:Upload your résumé and unofficial transcript in PDF format to Handshake and make both documents publicly visible by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017.  Please make sure your Handshake profile includes your preferred first name and hometown.

        Step 4:Complete the online FLS Membership Application  by 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017.

        What are FLS membership dues?FLS membership dues are $20 per semester. If you were a member Fall Semester 2016, you must REAPPLY this term and pay your spring semester dues.When are BAP/FLS Meetings?Beta Alpha Psi meetings are on Tuesday nights from 6-7 pm in Lowder Hall (there are no separate meetings for FLS).  A meeting calendar will be provided upon acceptance to FLS (all candidates are notified of their application result on January 13, 2017).  You also have an opportunity to participate in the R.I.S.E. (Recruiting, Internships, Studies & Etiquette) mentorship program with BAP members (juniors/seniors in ACCT).
