Become an Internal Revenue Service (Criminal Investigation) Special Agent!

October 14, 2020 By Colby Lakas

        Blog Details

The IRS-Criminal Investigation (CI) division has posted special agent positions nationwide. Perks include a pension, government-issued car, competitive starting salaries ($60-$68k depending on degree), and annual raises of $8,000/year.

CI Special Agents fill a unique niche in the federal law enforcement community. The IRS is the only federal agency that can investigate potential criminal violation of the Internal Revenue Code. As part of the CI team, your investigative jurisdiction would include tax, money laundering, and Bank Secrecy Act laws. You’ll cultivate specialized forensic and technological skills to protect our nation’s assets. For more information about the special agent position, please visit www.jobs.irs.gov and watch this video.

Potential special agent applicants should establish an account on www.usajobs.gov to upload a résumé and apply to the announcement. Please also contact Mrs. Lakas (colby.lakas@auburn.edu) if you're interested in this career path, as we have a specific contact within the division who can answer questions (Special Agent Chris Forte).
