Ms. Murphy teaches ACCT 2110 Principles of Financial Accounting, ACCT 3810 Professional Development in Accounting, and ACCT 3110 Intermediate Accounting I while also serving as Director of Campus and Online Master of Accountancy Programs and the online undergraduate accounting programs. Prior to joining academia, Ms. Murphy worked 10 years in banking and healthcare and two years in public accounting with Ernst & Young. She served as Beta Alpha Psi and Financial Leadership Society faculty advisor and director of accounting recruiting and internships for more than 10 years. She has received many teaching awards including the Auburn Alumni Association Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award, Delta Sigma Pi Teacher of the Year Award, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Auburn University Panhellenic Council Outstanding Professor, Beta Alpha Psi Outstanding Teacher 2017, and Alabama Society of CPAs Outstanding Accounting Educator 2017. In 2016, Murphy was honored by the establishment of the Amy B. Murphy Accounting Excellence Endowment funded by alumni and faculty. She is a licensed CPA in the state of Alabama and a member of the Alabama Society of CPAs and the AICPA.
