        Professional Activities

        Casey Cegielski (known to his students as "Dr. C") is the author of more than 60 research articles that have appeared in numerous international information systems journals and proceedings. His recent research has focused on cybersecurity and the inter-organizational use of cloud-based information technologies. His work has appeared in the Journal of Information Technology, Information Systems Journal,  Decision Support Systems, and Information & Management. Additionally, Cegielski is the co-author of the textbook Introduction to Information Systems: Enabling and Transforming Business.

        In the Harbert College of Business, Cegielski’s teaching responsibilities include courses in the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral programs. Currently, he routinely teaches a series of courses in the area of cybersecurity including Introduction to Information Security, Systems Risk Analysis, and Information Technology Auditing, as well as a doctoral seminar that surveys the information systems reference discipline of sociology.

        In 2006, with support from KPMG, LLP, Cegielski developed the nation's first interdisciplinary cyber security and information assurance program in a college of business. Since its initial inception, the program has expanded to include an undergraduate concentration in the Information Systems major and a graduate certificate offering for MBAs. 

        Casey has been honored several times by his department and the Harbert College of Business for his outstanding contributions in teaching and research. In 2013, Auburn University awarded to Cegielski it's most prestigious teaching honor the Gerald and Emily Leischuck Endowed Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 2015, he was designated the J.W. Woodruff Sr. Professor in the Harbert College of Business. 

        Cegielski has more than 20 years of professional experience in the area of information technology. He has served as a senior IT executive as well as an executive IT consultant in the financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. Cegielski holds several active professional cyber certifications including CISSP, CISA, CRISC and CDPSE.
