About the Program
The Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics is designed to provide the basic skills necessary to manage big data in the business setting. The program is the perfect addition for Auburn students who would like to add to their expertise or for working professionals who would like to gain extra training for their current and future jobs. Completion of the certificate program often increases job mobility and allows many to move up within their current career with their new skills.
The Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics Program will help you develop working skills in:
- Building data models used in business decision making and business applications
- Basic data mining techniques for the business setting
- Managing, governing, extracting, merging, and preparing large data sets for analysis
- Big data management, with emphasis on loading and cleansing data for analysis
The program requires the completion of 4 courses (12 hours). Please see the note below for possible substitutions:
BUAL 6600/6 - Predictive Modeling I
(generally offered in the Spring)
BUAL 6610/6 - Predictive Modeling II
(generally offered in the Fall, prerequisite course is BUAL 6600/6)
BUAL 6650/6 - Big Data I
(generally offered in the Fall)
BUAL 6660/6 - Big Data II
(generally offered in the Spring, prerequisite course is BUAL 6650/6)
*Note: Currently enrolled MBA students may substitute BUSI 7120/6 for either BUAL 6660/6 or BUAL 6610/6. Other current Auburn graduate students may substitute one three hour course from their current degree program for one of the four required courses at the discretion of the Graduate Programs officer. Please note that BUAL 6650/6 cannot be substituted if the student plans to take BUAL 6660/6 as it is a prerequisite for that class.
A good background in statistics is helpful but not required.
