He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management and as an Associate Editor for the Academy of Management Journal. He has also published in other prestigious outlets, including the Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, and Decision Sciences. His work is often cited in media outlets, such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.

Connelly teaches strategic management to undergraduate students and is highly involved in teaching and mentoring in the doctoral program. In recent years, he has won awards for research, teaching, and service.

He also brings nearly two decades of experience at Fortune 500 companies, including Westinghouse and Hughes. This "practitioner-turned-scholar" background in engineering and international business development provides a pragmatic foundation for his research and teaching.
