Dr. Yen-Yao Wang is the Bickerstaff Associate Professor of Information Systems and the Director of the Business Analytics and Information Systems Master's and Certificate Programs at the Harbert College of Business, Auburn University.
Dr. Wang's research centers on two primary streams:
Broadly, Dr. Wang's research explores the ways in which technology, IT investment, and organizational factors interact to shape firm performance. He employs a diverse methodological toolkit—ranging from econometric analysis and machine learning to in-depth case studies—to generate both rigorous and practical insights into the evolving role of technology in organizations.
Dr. Wang’s work has been published in prestigious UTD 24 and FT 50 journals, including Information Systems Research and Production and Operations Management, as well as other high-impact outlets. Throughout his career, he has been recognized with various research awards and nominations, such as the Editors’ Choice Award from the Journal of Business Research, the Outstanding Research Awards from the Harbert College of Business, Best Paper Nominee from the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), and was a finalist for the Outstanding Rising Scholar Award at the Harbert College of Business. His research has also received funding support from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan.
Dr. Wang is a dedicated and active contributor to the professional Information Systems community. He currently serves as an Associate Editor (AE) for Internet Research and is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Information Systems and the Journal of Database Management. He has also served as a special-issue AE for Information Systems Frontiers. Additionally, Dr. Wang frequently contributes as an AE and program committee member for leading IS conferences, including the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST), Hawaii International Conference System and Sciences (HICSS), and the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS). He has been recognized with multiple Best AE awards for his exceptional service.
Dr. Wang teaches Business Programming for Analytics in R at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as IT Strategy in the MBA and EMBA programs, and a research seminar in the PhD program.
