Harbert Sales Competition

August 28, 2026

This fall, the Marketing Department is hosting the first annual Harbert Sales Competition, sponsored by Penske.

Students will compete in teams of 3-5 students for cash prizes and the opportunity to pitch Penske to the Executive Vice President of Sales, Vice Presidents of Sales, and District Sales Managers in the competition finals.

Case Competitions not only allow students to gain hands-on experience with an employer, but also stand out on resumes as notable experience and engagement. Students who compete in case competitions are more likely to be noticed by employers, and have a true sales experience to share about in interviews.

Information Session

Students can join Marketing Program Champion, Megan Morris, for an information session to learn more about the competition, prizes and Penske on Thursday, September 3 from 5:00 - 6:00 PM in Lowder 126. Students will receive the case materials, slide deck for presentation, and helpful tips for how to prepare for the case.

Registration

Students who wish to register for the competition should first form groups of 3-5 before registering. Once formed, teams should register individually, including their team name as part of registration.

Students will receive the case as they register for the competition along with the presentation template.

Registration will close on Wednesday, September 9 at 11:59 PM.

Round 1 - Virtual

Students will submit a virtual presentation to the reviews for Round 1 of the competition. Contestants will submit a 10 minute video presentation to the review board, pitching Penske as the optimal partner for the case client. Business professional is the recommended attire for this submission.

Round 1 submission are due Thursday, October 1 at 11:59 PM.

Round 2 - Live Presentation with Penske Executives

The review board will select up to 12 teams to advance to the final round of the Harbert Sales Competition. These competitors will be invited to an exclusive meet and greet with Penske Executive Team Members and the chance to win cash prizes!

Teams will be notified by Wednesday, October 7 if they will advance to the final round.

The final round will be a 15 minute presentation delivered in person to Penske and Marketing faculty. Students will register for 30-minute time slots with 15 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for Q&A with the judges. Final Round Presentations will be held on Thursday, October 16.

The Harbert Sales Competition Awards Ceremony will be held Thursday, October 16 in the Broadway Event Space & Theatre (BEST) Room in Horton-Hardgrave Hall.

All teams who compete in the sales competition are invited to participate in the Awards Ceremony.
