The Thomas Walter Center for Technology Management is an interdisciplinary umbrella organization affiliated with the College of Business, the College of Engineering and other academic units. The Center fosters programs to help private sector organizations increase their effectiveness through better use and understanding of technology. The mission includes improving business and engineering student preparation for the industrial world with new curricula, applied research and continuing education initiatives. The Center’s mission is accomplished through various programs, most visibly the Business-Engineering-Technology minor for both business and engineering students. The two-year minor (16 credits) provides students with the education and training to develop new products, business models and plans for start-ups while working in a team environment.
The Center investigates manufacturing technology usage in the U.S. and publishes the resulting reports for researchers, industry representatives and policy makers.
