        Professional Activities

        Carrie Leffler served for four years at Auburn’s College of Education as a business/marketing instructor before moving in the summer of 2023 to the Harbert College of Business School of Accountancy to teach Principles of Financial Accounting. She earned the Alabama Business Education Association’s Outstanding Post-Secondary Business Educator of the Year award in 2023.

        Leffler holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting from Troy University, and a master’s degree in business and marketing education from Auburn University. She has worked in accounting, auditing and consulting for more than 18 years specializing in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including public accounting and with large international corporations in the banking and insurance industries. 

        Her work includes study and implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act passed in 2002, in which all publicly traded companies are required to implement and report internal accounting controls to the Securities and Exchange Commission for compliance. In addition, certain provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley also apply to privately held companies.
