Dr. Heather R. Bono joined the Harbert College of Business in July 2025 as a lecturer
in finance. She is teaching Real Estate Finance (FINC 5250), Real Estate Investments
(5260), and Advanced Business Finance (FINC 3630).
She served in various faculty positions at the University of West Georgia for 13 years, including three years as chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance. Throughout her tenure, she demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching, research, and service. Dr. Bono received multiple awards from the Richards College of Business, notably for her outstanding commitment to engaging undergraduate students in experiential learning initiatives, such as faculty-mentored research.
Dr. Bono’s research specializes in real estate economics, spatial econometrics, and housing market dynamics. Her recent studies investigate the effects of agent behavior and market conditions on real estate outcomes, along with the spatial influence of urban features on property values. Additionally, she explores education-related topics, including pedagogy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and financial literacy. Her research has been published in journals such as Applied Economics Letters, Journal of Housing Research, and Journal of Real Estate Research.
Dr. Bono earned her PhD in finance from the University of Alabama.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jason, and son, Beckett.
