        Professional Activities

        Uzma Raja is the Benoski Professor and Department Chair of Business Analytics & Information Systems. Along with administrative experience in academic program development, she pursues an active research and teaching agenda grounded in industry experience.

        Her research interests relate to information systems evolution, healthcare systems, and e-commerce. She has extensively employed her expertise in data and text-mining in her research on data-driven decision-making. Her publications have appeared in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, European Journal on Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Information Technology and Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, International Journal of Logistics management, and Journal of Health Information Management Systems.

        Raja brings her expertise and passion for data-driven decision-making to her teaching as well. She has developed and delivered courses related to data management, analytics, and visualization at undergraduate, graduate (MBA and M.S.), doctoral, and executive level using traditional, online, and hybrid formats. She has extensive experience integrating real world problems and datasets into teaching and working with corporate partners to improve classroom experience.

        She is an active member of the Information Systems and Business Analytics research community. She has presented her work at various academic and industry conferences as well as several invited talks. She served as the chair of the Special Interest group on Decision Analytics. Prior to academia, she had a decade long career at a global consulting firm.
