The Harbert College of Business is one of 18 world-class business schools that participated in a new advertising campaign presented by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an international accrediting organization, and produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions.
The video and branded content series—known as Leader Generation—illustrates the integral role business schools and management educators can play in addressing the world’s most pressing economic, social, and environmental issues through responsible leadership.
According to an AACSB media release, Leader Generation is a first of its kind online series showcasing how select schools are equipping future leaders with the skills and sensitivities to rethink, reimagine and rebuild business.
Leader Generation also spotlights institutions that are creating opportunities for under-represented students, celebrating educators as a force for good and contributing to greater access to education.
The Harbert video features the educational journey of Beatrice Dela Pena (’22), who chose Auburn’s executive MBA program in order to advance in her insurance industry career.
“I’m grateful that I’ve had the MBA experience. It’s given me the skills to achieve the promotions that I was looking for,” said Dela Pena, who progressed from a regional sales director with GEICO to become senior director of GEICO’s countrywide Spanish operations.
Auburn’s EMBA is known for its cohort model, hybrid delivery that includes one week on campus each semester, and an international business abroad experience, said Frank Oprandy, executive director of Harbert College’s executive MBA program.
“The cohort model gives our graduates a built-in lifelong set of consultants that you can tap into the rest of your career,” said Oprandy. “Our hybrid delivery model meets students—many of whom are working full-time and have families—where they are. We cater to the needs that they have.”
Dela Pena, who completed a one-week residency in Barcelona with her cohort, said the experience gave her an international business perspective that she had lacked and it positively influenced her career.
"Today marks an exciting milestone as we launch the AACSB Leader Generation campaign, produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, a celebration of the profound impact that business education has across the globe,” said Lily Bi, AACSB president and CEO. “By showcasing the transformative work of 18 outstanding business schools, this advertising feature highlights three essential themes: innovative education, learning to lead, and empowering inclusion.”
