Raymond J. Harbert, a 1982 business graduate, was one of four Auburn alumni to receive the university’s 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) at a campus gala on June 7. The LAA recognizes alumni for outstanding achievements in their professional lives, personal integrity and stature and service to the university.

Harbert is founder and CEO of Harbert Management Corp., an independent investment firm managing more than $8 billion in assets. Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, the firm has offices across the United States and Europe.

A philanthropist, Harbert serves as a trustee for the Robert Meyer Foundation and Children’s of Alabama. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham Business Alliance and is a trustee emeritus of Auburn University where he served as president pro tempore of Auburn’s Board of Trustees.

His generosity has been transformational for Auburn University. In 2013, in recognition of a $40 million commitment from Harbert—then the largest gift in Auburn history—the College of Business was renamed The Raymond J. Harbert College of Business.
