Colvin Prince, the social media manager for the Harbert College of Business, was recognized by his alma mater on Oct. 3 with the Troy University 2025 Communications Specialist of the Year award from the Hall School of Journalism.

Since joining Harbert College’s communications and marketing team in January 2024, Prince has created engaging and memorable content that resonates with alumni, students, faculty and other stakeholders, while mentoring Harbert’s social media student ambassadors and sharing his expertise with colleagues across campus.

According to Harbert’s Communications and Marketing Director Colleen Bourdeau, Prince has transformed the social media ambassador program; produced videos that inform and promote the college; and created Harbert Business Buzz, a popular monthly news recap video.

“Colvin’s creativity, strategy, and genuine connection with our audiences have elevated every aspect of our social presence,” said Bourdeau. “Beyond his professional skill, Colvin brings contagious enthusiasm, kindness, and a collaborative spirit that makes our entire team better.”

Outside of work, Prince is actively engaged in the Auburn community, serving as the youngest member selected for the 2024–2025 Class of Leadership Lee County, the Opelika Young Professionals Board, and the Auburn University Young Professionals Board.

Through Leadership Lee County, he completed a program focused on leadership development, community education, and service opportunities for a select group of area professionals. He is also pursuing a master’s degree in communication in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University.

Earlier in his career, Prince served as a pivotal figure in assisting organizations and brands in optimizing their social media content to enhance their online presence. He’s had the privilege of collaborating with international, national, and state-wide organizations such as Macmillan Learning, Troy University, the North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence, and the Boys and Girls Club of East Alabama, among others.

He continues to empower brands and communities to amplify their voice and connect with their audiences in meaningful ways, combining his passion for storytelling with social media, communications, and marketing.

As a Troy student, Prince served as a news anchor with TrojanVision, the university’s campus television station and digital production center, which delivers news and original programming to audiences across south Alabama, west Georgia, and beyond through cable, webcasting, on-demand, and social media platforms.
