Internship Overview
The internship is a three-month paid position in the US Business Tax group with Deloitte LLP in London. It provides the best path to a full-time position as an analyst within the group. The spring internship runs from mid-January through mid-April, covering our traditional tax busy season. The summer internship runs from mid-May to mid-August, which is also quite a busy period for our group.
As an intern, each student performs the work of a first-year analyst. This work can include preparing tax return work-papers, identifying and researching issues, using software to prepare tax returns, and assisting with various other tasks for the engagement.
In addition to the salary, Deloitte provides round-trip airfare from the US, housing, and transportation to/from the airport in London for each intern. The housing is typically a one-to-three-bedroom serviced flat within walking distance of the office, which is shared by interns (one intern per bedroom). Interns typically accrue five to six vacation days during the course of the internship, allowing for potential travel throughout Europe. Visa sponsorship to work in the UK is included.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who are pursuing a degree in accounting, taxation, or law and who will pursue a CPA qualification or bar certification after graduation. We have accepted candidates for internship positions at various stages of their educational career. Most applicants are typically within one year of completing undergraduate studies; however, we have also had past interns who join us having already completed their postgraduate studies. International students are also encouraged to apply.
We strongly prefer candidates who have a specific interest in tax and who are willing to seriously consider returning to London to start their career on a full-time basis following a successful internship. Students who enjoy tackling problems in a team-orientated and high-performance environment will find this opportunity to be a rewarding experience. We strive for diversity; all are welcome to apply, and we provide sponsorship to work in the UK.
