The Harbert College of Business is seeking student applicants for a summer mentorship opportunity. The College is hosting a 5-day residential camp June 13-17, 2022 for rising 9th-10th grade high school students.
Mentors can be current HCOB students (prefer rising juniors, seniors, or May grads). It is an excellent fit for May grads needing a little cash prior to moving on to a real job.
*****NOTE: This job is not for students enrolled in traditional face-to-face Summer or Mini I classes. ************
Details:
- Mentors will work 50 total hours for the week which includes required advanced training sessions.
- During the week of camp, the work hours will be:
- Monday – Thursday, June 13 – 16
- 8 am to 5 pm
- Friday, June 17
- 8 am to 2 pm
- Monday – Thursday, June 13 – 16
- Lunch is included Monday – Friday.
- Must provide own housing.
- Compensation: $15.00/hour
Responsibilities for the mentors will include the following:
- Harbert College of Business (HCOB) mentors are responsible for informing and guiding campers in better understanding business concepts, business majors, and career interests related to business during scheduled day camp hours from 8am – 5pm Monday-Thursday and from 8am – 2pm on Friday.
- Youth Camp leaders hired by the AU Outreach Youth Programs Office will be responsible for bringing campers to/from the HCOB daily, for evening social activities, and are responsible for the health and well-being of the campers on-site.
- Work on-site with faculty and staff to assist the campers
- Keep campers on schedule for activities
- Mentor and model responsible behavior
- Enhance teamwork and character among campers
- Organize and supervise group activities as needed
