        Shape the Future with Our Real Estate Development Minor

        The minor in real estate development is composed of a series of established courses taught in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture (APLA), the McWhorter School of Building Science (BSCI), the Department of Finance (FINC). The minor requires 15 credit hours through a combination of required and elective courses.  Each minor pathway, determined by the student’s major, is designed to complement the respective major courses.

        Requirements:

        Note that the minor is available to FINC, APLA, or BSCI MAJORS ONLY.

        To declare the minor, FINC majors should consult with their Harbert College of Business academic advisor. BSCI and APLA majors should consult with their CADC advisor.

        Minor Pathway for FINC Majors

        Required courses (9 hours):

        • FINC 3250 Principles of Real Estate
        • ARCH 3500 Seminar in Methods and Processes: Real Estate Development
        • BSCI 4300 Basic Principles of Construction and Design

        Elective courses (6 hours from the following):

        • FINC 5250 Real Estate Finance
        • FINC 5260 Real Estate Investment
        • ARCH 2600 The Art of Architecture, Place, and Culture
        • BSCI 2300 Construction Methods and Materials

        Total Hours: 15 (must earn a minimum overall minor GPA of 2.0)

        **Note that FINC courses/hours may not be double-counted toward the FINC major and the Real Estate Development minor.  Additionally, ARCH 2600 cannot count toward the Real Estate Development minor if it is counting toward core fine arts or core humanities.
