        • Is a particular computer recommended/required for Harbert College of Business students?
          No. All of the software used by our students accessible via the web, so any computer with a web browser and WiFi will work fine.
        • How do I access my office computer remotely?

          To Remotely Connect to Your Office Computer you will need the following:


          1. Contact ITS for assistance. We will help make sure your office computer is setup for remote access, and provide you with the device's name for remote access.
          2. Make sure you are registered with DUO and have the VPN software installed on the device you will use to remotely connect to your office computer
          3. Make sure you have a remote desktop client installed that supports RDP. Most Windows machines will have "Remote Desktop" installed by default. Microsoft also makes this software available in the MacOS, iOS, and Google Play app stores.
          4. Connect to the VPN and authenticate with DUO when prompted.
          5. Launch your remote desktop software, and enter the name of your computer computer/address field.

          6. Click connect, and login with your Auburn credentials
            • If you encounter any errors, try using yourcomputername.mmd.auburn.edu in the computer/address field (adding ".mmd.auburn.edu" to the computer name)
        • How do I access my office computer remotely from a Mac?

          To Remotely Connect to Your Office Computer you will need the following:


          1. Contact ITS for assistance. We will help make sure your office computer is setup for remote access, and provide you with the device's name for remote access.
          2. Make sure you are registered with DUO and have the VPN software installed on the device you will use to remotely connect to your office computer
          3. Download and install “Microsoft Remote Desktop” from the App store (make sure it is published by “Microsoft Corporation” and not a 3rd party clone)
          4. Connect to the Auburn VPN
          5. Launch “Microsoft Remote Desktop” and either click “Add PC” or click on the “+” symbol on the tool bar and then select “Add PC”
          6. In the “PC name” field enter your office computer’s name followed by “.mmd.auburn.edu”. Example if your office computer is named HCOB-001232 then enter HCOB-001234.mmd.auburn.edu

          7. Click “Add”
          8. Double click the computer object that was created.
          9. Login with your normal Auburn credentials. (You may have to accept some certificate warnings.)
        • How do I access the Z: drive from off-campus?

          To access the Z-Drive from off campus, you will need to be registered to use DUO and have the campus VPN client installed on your off campus computer.

          Windows:

          1. Connect to the VPN
          2. Open an Explorer Window or Run dialog box (Win key + R) and type the following into the address field: \\harbertfiles.auburn.edu\hcob$
          3. Press enter
          4. Log in with your Auburn credentials if prompted.

          MacOS:

          1. From the Finder menu, click on Go, and then Connect to Server
          2. In the address field type the following: smb://harbertfiles.auburn.edu/hcob$
          3. Click connect
          4. Log in with your Auburn credentials if prompted
        • How do I access the Research (R:) drive from off-campus?

          To access the Research (R:) Drive from off campus, you will need to be registered to use DUO and have the campus VPN client installed on your off campus computer.

          Windows:

          1. Connect to the VPN
          2. Open an Explorer Window or Run dialog box (Win key + R) and type the following into the address field: \\ressmb.auburn.edu\hcob
          3. Press enter
          4. Log in with your Auburn credentials if prompted.

          MacOS:

          1. From the Finder menu, click on Go, and then Connect to Server
          2. In the address field type the following: smb://ressmb.auburn.edu/hcob
          3. Click connect
          4. Log in with your Auburn credentials if prompted
