When should I plan to do my internship?
- Most of our students intern during their junior year. This allows you to have valuable experience to help you navigate securing a full-time position early during your senior year. We strongly encourage students to complete the internship AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We strongly advise you NOT TO WAIT UNTIL YOUR LAST YEAR OR LAST SEMESTER. If you put off your internship this puts you at a significant disadvantage among your colleagues at understanding what type of full-time role you would like to pursue as well as having less industry experience to reference on your resume and during interviews.
- We do have many students who are able to secure and complete two internship opportunities prior to graduation. Please note the pre-requisite courses for SCMN 3920 (the internship course for credit) are the following: SCMN 2150 (Operations), SCMN 3710 (Logistics), CTCT 3250 (Excel course) and highly recommended is SCMN 3810 (professional development)

I am getting a Supply Chain Management degree, but I do not actually want to work in a Supply chain role full-time after graduation. Can I get an internship role that better associates with my career goals and therefore is not a supply chain internship role?
- The Supply Chain curriculum requires direct experience in a supply chain role to receive credit for internship and be approved for the SCMN 3920 course.
- If you do not want to work in the supply chain field upon graduation we strongly encourage you to meet with Mrs. Warren, your academic advisor, to discuss switching to a major that more closely aligns with your long-term career goals.
- If you still would like to purse a supply chain management degree, but do not want to work in a supply chain role upon graduation we strongly recommend that you plan to complete a supply chain internship and SCMN 3920 early in your academic career. This will allow you to participate in an additional internship for experience in the specific area that interests later in your academic career.
