Vansant's research investigates the effects of regulation, reporting requirements, and incentive contracts on managers' decisions. His dissertation uses archival data to investigate the effect of regulatory pressures on the earnings management behavior of nonprofit managers in the healthcare industry.
Vansant teaches managerial and cost accounting. Prior to returning to graduate school and entering academia full-time, Vansant worked as an auditor for Ernst & Young, managed financial analysis and reporting for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, and most recently was senior vice president of a community bank in metropolitan Atlanta.
