        Professional Activities

        A faculty member in the School of Accountancy since 2011, Dr.  Vansant is currently the C. G. Mills Fellow and serves as the Director of Quality Assurance for the Harbert College of Business. He previously served as the faculty director of the Physicians Executive MBA program. Vansant teaches managerial and cost accounting at both the undergraduate and MBA levels, as well as healthcare finance in the Physicians Executive MBA program.

        Dr. Vansant’s research is focused primarily on the healthcare industry and investigates the effects of market dynamics, reporting requirements, and incentive contracts on managers' decisions.  His research has been published in Contemporary Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Management Accounting Research, and Behavioral Research in Accounting.

        Prior to his academic career, Vansant has over 10 years of industry experience and worked in the assurance practice for Ernst & Young; managed the financial analysis and reporting functions for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia; and was senior vice president of a community bank in metropolitan Atlanta.
