Achilles Armenakis, James T. Pursell Eminent Scholar in Management at the Harbert College of Business, recently set a personal research milestone. Two of Armenakis’ co-authored papers have eclipsed the 1,000-citation mark.
The 1999 paper “Organizational change: A review of theory and research of the 1990s,”
has been cited by journals 1,065 times, while the 1993 work “Creating readiness for
organizational change,” co-authored by Harbert colleagues Kevin Mossholder, C.G. Mills Professor in Management, and Stanley Harris, now Associate Dean for Graduate and International Programs, has 1,022 citations.
“Creating readiness for organizational change” clarifies the readiness for change
concept and examines how change agents can influence employee readiness for organizational
change.
“Organizational change: A review of theory and research of the 1990s,” co-authored
by Arthur G. Bedeian, Boyd Professor in Management at Louisiana State University,
examines the theoretical and empirical organizational change literature composed from
1990-99, with a special emphasis on content, context, process and criteria. The paper
concludes that the literature is responsive to the dynamics of contemporary workplace
demands.
In total, journals have cited Armenakis, Mossholder and Harris’ work 17,563 times.
