Read is the founder of clearMINDnow, a startup company that allows individuals to complete mandatory random drug testing from the privacy of their own home following the completion of a drug treatment program.

The company’s approach uses a saliva-based test kit and smartphone app to deliver reliable testing results in 20 minutes. Those results are then confidentially shared with the treatment center, client and their support network.

As reported in the fall 2022 Harbert Magazine, Read developed the idea for the company when someone close to her was battling a drug addiction.

Read’s first big break occurred in 2020, when clearMINDnow—known as Lucid Living Solutions at the time—won the $50,000 concept-stage prize at the Alabama Launchpad. Since then, the company has closed an oversubscribed seed round, received an Alabama Inno Fire Award and has been featured in numerous publications.

Before starting clearMINDnow, Read designed jewelry for a family-owned business for eight years and worked in sales for Prepaid Technologies Inc. and Takeda Pharmaceuticals.
