Robust academic experience and favorable career outcomes propel Harbert College of Business program to the upper tier of Poets &Quants’ ranking.

The Harbert College of Business at Auburn University jumps four spots to rejoin Poets&Quants’ list of the top 10 Best Online MBA Programs. The 2024 ranking, released today, reflects the program’s commitment to upholding admission standards, delivering a strong academic and student experience, and promoting favorable career outcomes.

"Our online MBA program has consistently ranked among the nation’s best since Poets&Quants began surveying online MBA programs six years ago," said Jim Parrish, executive director of Full-Time and Online Graduate Business Programs. "I believe our program's flexibility, engaging online learning experience and competitive tuition resonates with students across the country who are looking for an outstanding return on their investment in education."

As reported in Poets&Quants, the cost of an Auburn online MBA is $37,325. Other top 10-ranked schools cost significantly more—ranging from $146,916 to $47,450.

Harbert began offering an online MBA in 1989, making the program one of the oldest in the country. It has steadily maintained its position in several national rankings, indicating consistent success in providing graduate business students the skills needed to excel in their careers. The methodology used by Poets&Quants, an online resource for business education coverage, relies on data from participating schools and surveys of recent alumni.

“Competition in the online space has increased exponentially since the beginning of the pandemic. Many schools recognized the necessity and effectiveness of online learning during that period,” said Michael Wesson, associate dean of Graduate and Executive Programs. "To move up four spots and return to the top 10, given the increase in competition, really says something about our program. With more than 30 years of distance learning experience, our longevity and willingness to adapt in this space remains a key differentiator."

“Auburn is hands down the most valuable school in the nation,” said Brandon J. Smith, Auburn MBA, Class of ’23, in a recent interview with Poets&Quants. “As someone who is a researcher by nature, I factored in the curriculum, where I wanted to take my career, and what my interests were…It is a rare opportunity that Auburn provides. It was also financially advantageous, considering I’ve been able to finish out my program the way I started – debt free.”

Over the past year, the Harbert College of Business has also been included in the U.S. News & World Report's list of Best Online MBA Programs and The Princeton Review's Top 25 Online MBA Programs.
