They came. They ate barbecue. They socialized.
Hundreds of Harbert College students flocked to the Lowder Hall lawn Friday, Aug. 23, for three hours of free barbecue, T-shirts, dessert and iced tea, as the college celebrated the new academic year.
At times, the line stretched at least 100 yards along the sidewalk beside West Magnolia Ave., and snaked into Lowder Hall.
Faculty and administration worked the serving line, while members of several student-related organizations within the college, including the Executive Society, Student Government Association, School of Accountancy, and Office of Professional and Career Development, marketed their programs.
