Harbert Eminent Scholar Dave Ketchen, Professor of Management in the Harbert College of Business, is one of 35 professionals nationwide chosen via a competitive process to serve as mentors for aspiring brewers in a new mentoring program, created by the Brewers Association, a craft beer trade group that counts more than 5,300 U.S. breweries as members.

According to the association, the program’s goal is “to increase the diversity of the workforce, leadership and ownership of small and independent breweries by providing structured mentoring and advocacy to those experiencing barriers to access or advancement.” The inaugural cohort of 30 students was chosen from nearly 270 applicants.

Ketchen will be advising students about entrepreneurship topics such as building an effective business model and writing a business plan. He teaches the Business of Brewing within Auburn University's brewing science and operations program, a multidisciplinary program housed in the College of Human Sciences.
