Consider the performance of the 2013 class of Master of Accountancy program students on the CPA exam as Exhibit A.

Each spring, students all over the nation take the four-section CPA exam. First-time exam participants from Auburn’s MAc class achieved a pass rate of 95 percent on three or more sections and a 74 percent pass rate on all sections. Their pass rate on individual sections – Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Business Environment and Concepts (BEC), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) and Regulation (REG) – ranged from 88 to 95 percent.

As a point of comparison, the average individual section pass rates for first-time and repeat CPA exam participants nationwide range from 48 percent to 57 percent.

“Our CPA exam pass rates are a true testament to the solid educational foundation provided our students by our faculty,” said Amy Murphy, MAc Program Director. “We recruit top students to the Auburn MAc Program, and we have outstanding faculty who take great pride in preparing our students for the profession.”

Colby Lakas, Assistant Director of Graduate Programs and Internship and Recruiting Coordinator for the School of Accountancy, said the performance reflects the effort put in by “hard-working and dedicated” students as well as Beta Alpha Psi sponsors who hire MAc students and provide the Becker CPA Review Course as a benefit to employees.
