        Atiya Avery

        Avery joined Auburn University in 2021. Prior to that she was on faculty at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and earned her PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago where she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow with the ESP (Electronic Security and Privacy)—IGERT group.

        Her research interests include IT infrastructure governance, IT security breach mitigation and recovery, surveillance, and the changing nature of work.  Her research has been presented at regional, national and international academic conferences.  Avery is an inaugural member of the national chapter of Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), the Association for Information Systems (AIS), ISACA, International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC^2),  KPMG’s PhD Project Information Systems and Decision Sciences Doctoral Student Association (ISDSA).  She also holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, the Security+ designation and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.
