An accomplished attorney in the business and banking industries, Elizabeth Ostendorf brings nearly 20 years of legal experience to her instructional role with the Harbert College of Business, where she teaches Business Law—a required course for all Harbert students.
After starting her career in private practice at two southeastern law firms, she spent 10 years as an in-house attorney with a super-regional financial institution headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, becoming the director of the legal department. During this time, she participated heavily in the growth of that institution through various mergers and acquisitions, including FDIC-assisted acquisitions. She also provided legal counsel to executive leadership on strategic initiatives such as risk mitigation and regulatory matters.
More recently, Ostendorf practiced with a large, national law firm where she advised businesses on a variety of issues including corporate governance, tax matters and acquisitions.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, visiting Lake Martin with her family and taking her young daughter to different zoos across the country.
