Mo Shen is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Harbert College of Business, Auburn
University. He teaches the core undergraduate course Advanced Business Finance. His
research interests lie broadly in empirical corporate finance, with a focus on labor
and finance, product markets, and mergers and acquisitions.
Professor Shen's research focuses on how companies interact with key groups like employees,
suppliers, and customers. He examines how factors in the labor and product markets
influence corporate decisions and policies. His work also explores how these decisions,
in turn, impact workers and markets, making his research relevant to the broader economic
implications of business practices.
Dr. Shen has published his research in leading academic journals such as the Review
of Financial Studies and Management Science. His work has also been presented at top
international finance conferences, including the Western Finance Association Meetings,
Society of Financial Studies Finance Cavalcade, Financial Intermediation Research
Society Meetings, American Law and Economics Association Annual Meeting, Labor and
Finance Group Conference, Cass Mergers and Acquisitions Research Centre Conference,
and China International Conference in Finance. He was awarded the WFA Cubist Systematic
Strategies Ph.D. Candidate Award for his dissertation on labor mobility and corporate
value, which was later published in the Review of Financial Studies. His recent research
on how ESG issues affect consumer decisions has been featured in the Chicago Booth
Review and earned the New Zealand Finance Meeting Best Runner-Up Award in 2023. For
