Paige Csere conducts experimental and qualitative research studies to better understand the issues that affect judgement and decision-making processes. Her research agenda aims to understand and report on the current state of training and development at audit firms, and to understand the unique contextual factors of the audit environment that affect the learning and development processes. She also conducts research to identify cognitive biases the auditors fall victim to while evaluating audit evidence, and the role of new technology in the accounting environment.
She teaches Intermediate Accounting I.
A certified public accountant, Csere holds bachelor’s and master’s of accountancy degrees from Auburn’s Harbert College of Business.
Earlier in her career, she worked as senior associate with KPMG performing audits for a large public client and smaller retail and non-profit clients (2016-19). This experience inspired her to want to earn a doctorate in accounting, which she pursued at Emory University. While at Emory, she received several fellowship awards, including a prestigious Deloitte Foundation Doctoral Fellowship. Her dissertation examined the role auditors’ team environments and other factors played in their willingness to use different audit procedures.
Outside of work, she enjoys shopping, reading, and taking spin classes. She also enjoys watching a good Netflix series.
