        Professional Activities

        Paul Swamidass, Professor Emeritus, was the former director of Thomas Walter Center for Technology Management at Auburn University (2005–2014) and its flagship Business-Engineering-Technology Program for engineering and business students.

        For 15 years, he taught inventing, patenting, and business plan development to engineering and business students using the contents of the above book.

        Now, he is a guest lecturer and writer on engineering entrepreneurship. He is an advocate for inventiveness, entrepreneurship and free-market capitalism, where individual creativity, innovation, and productivity can flourish for the benefit of the broader community.

        After his mechanical engineering degree, he started his career as a production-manufacturing manager with BHEL (seven years), a large manufacturer in India.

        He is also the author/editor of Innovations in Competitive Manufacturing, AMACOM Books, NY, 2002; Encyclopedia of Production and Manufacturing Management, Kluwer Academic Publishing, Boston , 2000; Cross-Functional Management of Technology: Cases and Readings, Irwin publishers, Chicago, 1996. Swamidass has published over 100 items including scholarly papers, articles, proceedings, and book chapters on innovation, invention, technology commercialization, and manufacturing management.

        He is the author of the series of manufacturing technology studies conducted with the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, USA. His research on manufacturing technology has been quoted or cited in The Economist, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Asian Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, and others.He was granted four US patents and one Canadian patent.
