Professional Activities
Scott McGlon is a serial entrepreneur with a proven track record of building and managing
profitable startups since 1998. His expertise is in execution strategies, e-commerce,
software & website development, financial planning, supply chain, marketing, and
search engine optimization. Each of his nine successful, wholly owned or majority-owned,
startups were boot-strapped - boasting YOY average growth of more than 15%. McGlon's
startups were in six different industries (transportation, automotive, real estate,
manufacturing, e-commerce, and retail) which provided diverse exposure benefiting
each business.
McGlon currently holds minority ownership in multiple startups and advises 20+ early-stage
startups throughout the United States. Working closely with startups, his "boots on
the ground" approach shows young entrepreneurs the grit and perseverance it takes
to be successful long-term.
Since 2015, McGlon has been passionate in assisting under-grad and graduate entrepreneurs
and advancing the entrepreneurship program initiatives & ecosystem at Auburn University.
This opportunity allows him to train, deploy, and share his diverse 25+ year entrepreneurial
experiences with founders possessing the right attributes to be a successful entrepreneur.
From proven processes to failures, McGlon is known for his direct & honest approach
regarding his own entrepreneurial journey. Startups, under his advisement, get the
good, the bad, and the ugly and how to manage through it all.
Since his last exit in 2014, McGlon now focuses on giving back and enjoys working
with founders to help achieve their goals & objectives. His focus has been working
closely with startups to optimize resources, develop well-defined processes, and to prioritize milestones
that will provide the most impact early on.
McGlon moved his family to Auburn in the Summer of 2017. He has two children: Lauren
(AU Supply Chain, 2019), a product manager for Axon Enterprises in Phoenix; and,
Patrick, a scholarship athlete entering his sophomore season in baseball. His wife
of 28 years, Shannon (AU '92) currently assists McGlon with all endeavors of their
primary business, McGlon Properties, LLC. His downtime focuses on spending time with
his family, travel, and looking for new opportunities and challenges.
