        Finalists selected for $50,000 Tiger Cage student business pitch competition

        Student-led start-ups specializing in mobile apps, rehabilitation garments and engineering resources will compete for shares of a $50,000 prize pool in the finals of the Tiger Cage business pitch competition.

        Hosted by the Harbert College of Business, the finals will be held Friday, April 6, at 9:30 a.m. in the ballroom of The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The finals, which are free and open to the public, are one of a series of events within the 2018 Auburn University Entrepreneurship Summit.

        This year’s Tiger Cage finalists include:

        • Enki Engineering, which will showcase a spiral engineering calculation notebook. The team features junior supply chain management major Terran Ray, junior software engineering major Garrett Raab and sophomore marketing major Jackie Litschewski.
        • ESCAPE Therapy, which has developed a personalized rehabilitation garment. The team includes kinesiology doctoral students Sarah Gason and Matt Hanks, as well as consumer and design sciences doctoral candidate Dawn Michaelson.
        • Snippety Snap, which has developed a public phone stand and integrated mobile app. The team is made up of public administration and public policy doctoral candidates Olivia Cook and Courtney Haun.
        • Savor, a mobile app concept focusing on the reduction of food waste. The team features junior business major Evan Walker, senior software and aerospace engineering major Rain Li and computer science graduate student Abhishek Jariwala.

        Each team will make a presentation to a panel of industry judges during the finals. The winner will earn a $25,000 grand prize, while the second place finisher will claim $10,000. The third place team will receive $6,000 and the fourth place finisher will earn $4,000. Audience members will also have the opportunity to vote on a $1,000 People’s Choice Award winner.
