Jeff Jones SGA award Jeff Jones has a firm grip on the SGA Outstanding Faculty Member Award. On March 28, the School of Accountancy Associate Professor was named the Auburn University SGA Outstanding Faculty Member for the second consecutive year. “Any awards where the students select and vote on – those are the most meaningful because they are the ones in our classes,” said Jones, who joined the Auburn faculty in 1997. “Those are the ones that I had an impact on. A student will come back later and say, ‘You’ve made an impact and made a difference.’ When you can make a difference in somebody, that’s when I’ve done my job.” Jones was notified of the award by SGA Academic Affairs representative Davis Riley by letter. Jones was chosen by the College of Business’ Senate Representatives, Demi Burton, Steven Sheffield, Warren Beck and Matthew H. Young. Jones, along with award-winning faculty members from across the university, will be recognized at the 2013 SGA Honors Ceremony inside the Student Center on April 16. “It is really an honor, particularly when you look across campus and see all of the people who have won this award,” said Jones, reflecting on last year’s ceremony. “It’s an honor to be in that company.” School of Accountancy Department Chair DeWayne Searcy considers Jones to be “one of our best instructors, hands-down.” “I couldn’t tell you how many teaching awards he has won over the years,” Searcy said. “Jeff represents us well and his classes are always in demand. From a teaching perspective, he epitomizes what we want from our faculty members.”
