What career opportunities exist within the Securities and Exchange Commission? What is the best course of action auditors should take in the event of affinity fraud?

Dr. Michael Ashmore, administrative officer at the Securities and Exchange Commission, will discuss these topics when he visits the Harbert College of Business on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Ashmore, who holds a master’s degree in educational administration and management from the University of New Orleans, oversees the SEC’s regional office’s budget, labor negotiations and other policy issues.

Sponsored by the School of Accountancy's annual Accounting Speakers Series, Ashmore will visit undergraduate cost accounting students and accounting ethics students in select classrooms Tuesday morning before holding an open discussion on SEC career opportunities with all Harbert College students that afternoon in Lowder 202.

That evening at 6:30, Ashmore will discuss affinity fraud in an event open to Harbert College students in Lowder 125A.
