Thirteen Auburn University College of Business students majoring in finance attended the Chartered Financial Analyst’s Society of Alabama’s 2013 Forecast Dinner at the Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham on Feb. 13. The evening allowed Auburn students, nine graduate and four undergraduate, to mingle with some of the state’s top financial professionals. “It was a great opportunity, not just to interact with those individuals, but hear the keynote speaker discuss what the (financial) future looks like,” said Auburn University College of Business Associate Professor of Finance, Dr. Keven Yost. That speaker was none other than Tobias M. Levkovich, Chief U.S. Equity Strategist for Citi Research. “It’s a great keynote speaker talking about the economic outlook,” Yost said. Auburn graduate student Koparan Can Iscan thought Levkovich was “overly enthusiastic” about the markets. “He said he thought the market was going in the right direction and this is a good time to invest,” Iscan said. “He also pointed out a few trends and talked about the concern of the baby boomers’ retirement. He said, looking at date, not only will baby boomers invest more, but they will be more active in securities. It was a good opportunity to network, and he had some real interesting points.” Yost said the College of Business’ Graduate Programs sponsored two tables, giving students the opportunity to attend for the first time.
