“Consistent with our mission of providing a superior student experience that produces highly sought after graduates, we are expanding our student offerings to help ensure a full-range of multi-cultural and inclusive educational experiences for students in the Harbert College of Business and across campus." -- Harbert College of Business Dean Annette L. Ranft”
Danny Butler, who has served as a professor in Marketing at Auburn since 1989 and is recipient of multiple teaching honors -- including the university’s prestigious Leischuck Award in 2008 -- will lead the expansion of the Harbert College of Business global footprint in the newly-created position of Assistant Dean for Global Programs.
In this role, Dr. Butler will help foster international faculty opportunities, undergraduate and graduate programs, and multi-cultural diversity within the Harbert College of Business. This includes developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate study abroad programs, facilitating faculty and student exchange for research and teaching with external constituents across Auburn and abroad. He will also link the Harbert College with companies operating in multiple nations for student internships and consulting projects.
“Dr. Butler has demonstrated a unique ability to develop study abroad strategies. These strategies have enabled our students to gain the global cultural fluency that is expected in today’s business context,” said Annette L. Ranft, Harbert College Dean and Wells Fargo Professor. “Consistent with our mission of providing a superior student experience that produces highly sought after graduates, we are expanding our student offerings to help ensure a full-range of multi-cultural and inclusive educational experiences for students in the Harbert College of Business and across campus. We are fortunate to have Dr. Butler in this expanded role where he will lead the development of engaging curricula, instruction, and high-impact global experiential learning opportunities.”
Butler represented Auburn University and the Harbert College as a Fulbright Scholar in the summer of 2013, teaching at the Zagreb School of Economics in Croatia. He earned his PhD from South Carolina in 1990, and has worked as a bank auditor, lobbyist, and assistant cruise ship director.
“Developing a full range of study abroad and experiential programs for our students aligns with the Harbert College of Business strategic plan,” said Butler.
“Historically, Harbert has been on the cutting edge with our global programs developing graduates who are highly skilled, professionally prepared and confident. I want to expand those opportunities to ensure that we graduate students who are globally-minded, ethical and follow the Auburn Creed. After all, Auburn students have a spirit that is not afraid.”
