“When I look at the new building … I see the future of the Harbert College of Business come to life!”
— Annette L. Ranft, Dean, Harbert College of Business
We witnessed its groundbreaking. We watched workers pour the massive concrete slab. We saw it rise, floor by floor.
On Monday, July 29, Harbert College of Business Dean and Wells Fargo Professor, Annette L. Ranft, led college administrators on the “Last Hard Hat Tour” of the new six-story business building adjacent to Lowder Hall. Two weeks later the official move began.
The vision of creating a world class, multi-building business complex is now a reality — a true milestone moment for the college.
“The new building is a physical manifestation of our vision of being an elite public college of business,” said Ranft. “It provides a space for our students, our alumni, and our corporate partners to interact, grow and develop professionally.
“It provides an opportunity for us to host, here in Auburn, a number of business leaders and academic events as we pursue our mission of producing highly desired, job ready, career minded graduates, and industry thought leaders.”

The 100,000-square foot building, which broke ground in April 2017, will provide students with interactive and collaborative classroom spaces, multiple study zones, an innovation lab, a rooftop terrace, and a fifth-floor executive boardroom overlooking Jordan-Hare Stadium.
“The new business building complements Lowder Hall by providing active learning focused classrooms, collaborative and team-based learning spaces and state-of-the-art technology, all designed to enhance and facilitate learning for our students,” said Joe Hanna, Harbert College of Business Associate Dean for Research and Outreach. “Combining Lowder Hall with the new business building creates a world-class business complex on the Auburn University campus that allows students to maximize their learning potential.”

The Harbert College of Business is experiencing incredible growth and momentum. Degree programs in accountancy, business analytics and supply chain management are among the nation's leaders, while research centers in supply chain and radio frequency identification technologies guide the Fortune 100. The Harbert College of Business is pioneering online education programs that offer value and flexibility, while nationally recognized faculty produce research that informs and responds to today's business trends.
“As an alum who took classes in Thach and Tichenor Halls and who worked in Lowder Hall, this new facility positions us to be among the nation’s best,” said Jimmy Lawrence, a longtime Harbert College of Business executive now serving as Construction Liaison for the new building project. “This is where alumni and business partners will mentor students, provide them with networking opportunities and allow our students to experience a working environment that is similar to the corporate world they are about to enter.”
